Meta seems to be making some very negative / bad decisions right now. For example, facebook is going to stop fact checking: https://about.fb.com/news/2025/01/meta-more-speech-fewer-mistakes/ (Community notes would have been a good addition but not replacement.)
If you value free speech, you should at least set up the following:
- Bluesky acct bsky.app
- Mastodon acct just go with mastodon.social OR pixelfed.social if you want something like Instagram
- Signal Messaging app account Signal.org
Even if you don’t use them, be prepared and start connecting with people you know other ways in case things get really bad.
And IF you’re trying to use Facebook or Instagram and it’s become more rage-bait, you may want to bookmark the following links for use on a desktop computer. These links should show you things in chronological order:
Instagram Stories are also not algorithmic either. I have more than one account there so I can keep friends/people separate from everything else which means I’m more likely to see your personal stories now.
