Unofficial WordPress resources
Given the state of what’s going on in Fall of 2024, I have started keeping tabs on resources that I am finding useful or may need and so I’m posting them for quick reference here:

WP Static Site Plugins
I have a few larger non-ecommerce sites that will be a beast to migrate to anything else and so I’ve been looking at my options. These plugins will create static site versions.
Keep in mind that you need to test this with your setup and if you use the free version you will lose search, forms and a few other things

Migrating to another CMS or SSG
I believe ClassicPress is going to be a good resource for some older smaller sites. And I’m going to try and move site search and contact forms into something that can be moved from one system to another more easily.
I’m actually working my way through testing various other CMS platforms at the moment. I will add more info here as I gather it. So far:
- Ghost looks like a good Substack, Medium, Mailchimp replacement but it’s not a match for everything.
- Drupal I’ve worked with before and it’s a beast but overkill for most SMB sites. There is a new project that’s supposed to come out in 2025 that I want to look at.
- I have a spreadsheet with over 150 CMSs and SSGs and I’m going through a small portion of those to do in-depth testing for migration as well as new build potential.
