- advanced RSS where publishers can see number of subscribers
- a way to subscribe without cluttering your email inbox
- and also find the blogs of the people you already follow online. The subscriptions are tied to your Atmosphere account (your Bluesky account.)
- a schema or lexicon for those technically inclined

2026-08-6 edit: quick note that website owners CAN implement BOTH rss AND standard site which is what I would recommend right now since not every feed reader supports both (yet.)
